Kaye cowher how long was she sick

Cleveland fans send their condolences. We are sorry for bill and his family as well as the steelers organization. God bless. As I said in an earlier post this is truly a sad day. You know, it is times like this that on one hand make a fan so sad but on the other hand makes me so proud and somewhat choked up. As I look down at all of the posts, I see so many names that on any given day I am exchanging taunts with or I see fellow Ravens fans exchanging words with…. God Bless! Absolutely horrible…..

My family and I were at our cabin that day and watched it as we did other things. My dad had never been a real fan of Cowher before that — the piece changed his whole perspective on what a truly great man he is and what an amazing family they have. May a classy, classy lady rest in peace and may the Cowhers find comfort in a difficult time. Some things…in fact, most things, are far more important than the game of football. My deepest sympathies go out to the Cowher family during their time of personal loss.

RIP Kaye! Thoughts and prayers to all. The Cowhers had lived in Raleigh since then. They will miss their mother dearly. Her memory will never be forgotten. We would like to thank everyone who has kept our family in their thoughts and prayers and for those who have reached out to express their condolences. It is clear that Kaye touched a lot of lives. They married in , after the former Kaye Young played alongside her twin sister, Faye, in college and during a three-season Women's Professional Basketball League career.

After leading N. All three of the Cowhers' daughters played or are playing college basketball. At the time of her death, Kaye Cowher served on the North Carolina State Board of Visitors, which advises the school's chancellor and board of trustees. The Cowhers returned to Raleigh even before Bill Cowher's NFL coaching career ended partly because of their close ties to the university and the friends they made during college. Kaye Cowher and other family members often were seen cheering from a private box at Steelers home games during Bill Cowher's 15 seasons as coach from to But this was no TV show.

It was the real deal. Although coaching was his career and he excelled at it, I never got the impression that football was Bill's entire reason for being, because of his love for Kaye and their daughters. Just how important were they to him? So much that he walked away from a high-paying job he probably could've had for life in exchange for a completely different, family-centic existence in his wife's home state of North Carolina.

And for that, I always admired him. Kaye met Bill while at North Carolina State in , and they were married five years later in , when Bill was a member of the Cleveland Browns. Throughout Bill's career, Kaye always had a pleasant presence in Pittsburgh as a woman who supported her husband and let him follow his dream, which is summarized so poetically in the photo above.

It is unknown exactly when Kaye Cowher came down with skin cancer, which is a storyline nearly unbelievable in a day and age when everybody knows everything.

But I'm virtually certain that her illness would explain Bill's longer-than-anticipated return to the pro football coaching ranks. Words can't express how badly I feel for Bill and all of the Cowhers at a time like this, but I know the family will have immeasurable support from the card-carrying members of Steeler Nation.

Rest in peace, Kaye Cowher. Newer Post Older Post Home.
